This hymn arrangement was compsed at the request of the director of the Stonebridge Ward Choir in Rexburg, Idaho. She was the first person ever to request an arrangement of a hymn from my web site, so this is dedicated to the choir she directs.
I have loved this hymn since my missionary days when we performed it as a men's double quartet for a branch in Japan. This arrangement now makes this men's favorite available to the entire choir. It actually took me several years after my mission to understand the analagy put forth in the hymn where the Savior is compared to a lighthouse and the "lights along the shore" are compared to us. Apparently, ship captains used to triangulate their position using the main light from a lighthouse and two smaller lights on the shore. The meaning is clear - we must do our part to bring lost souls to the greater light.
