Come Thou Fount of Every Blessing is a marvelous hymn that is sung in the congregations of many Christian denominations. I decided to stay true as possible to the original hymn in this arrangement. In fact, this is not hardly an arrangement at all, other than the fact that I have added a violin descant. Different voices sing the melody at different times and the violin comes in and out at different times, adding a lovely touch to an old favorite. It is therefore easy for the choir to perform and a joy for everyone to hear.
The instrumental descant can be played by flute, or any other C instrument. I originally wrote it for viola for my daughter to play, so there is a viola version available as well. The descant is not overly challenging and should be easily playable by high school level musicians. |
